Ski for WVC
Ski for WVC March 17-18
The Wenatchee Valley College Foundation invites WVC alumni and the community to Ski for WVC during regular hours at Mission Ridge on March 17 and 18. Mission Ridge will donate $5 per full-price lift ticket purchased throughout the weekend to the WVC Foundation to support student scholarships and college programs.
Free after-hours skiing will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 17, sponsored by the WVC Ski Program alumni. Visitors are invited to the lodge at Mission Ridge to learn about the history of the WVC Ski Team and Ski Program through articles and photo displays, and to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes, including a snowboard donated by Arlberg Sports and handmade glass skier donated by the former The Ski and Bike Doctor.
Alumni of the WVC Ski Management program, Ski Instruction program and the Ski Team are invited to the 2012 WVC Programmer Reunion starting at 6 p.m. Saturday in Hampton Lodge. Lee Rowe, a long-time ski instructor and coach, will be presented with a WVC Ski Program Lifetime Achievement Award. Go to the Wenatchee Valley College Ski Program Facebook page to connect with classmates and RSVP.
“This is an opportunity for the community and WVC alumni to connect and spend a day doing something they love while supporting their community college,” said Stacey Lockhart, executive director of the WVC Foundation.
“We are excited to be the catalyst for the community to not only enjoy a day of skiing, but give back to such a worthy cause,” said Jerri Barkley, marketing director at Mission Ridge.
Lockhart explained that the ski programmer and ski team alumni have, in past years, held an informal, one-day gathering at Mission Ridge to ski and reunite. This is the first year the alumni and foundation collaborated to create a formal event.
